Indonesia Volcano Climbing
The Geography of Indonesia is dominated by volcanoes that are formed due to subduction zones between the Eurasian plate and the Indo-Australian plate. Some of the volcanoes are notable for their eruptions, fo instance, Krakatau for its global effects in 1883, Lake Toba for its super volcanic eruption estimated to have occurred 74,000 before present which was responsible for six years of volcanic winter, mount Tambora for the most violent eruption in recorded history in 1815.

Volcano in Indonesia are part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. The 150 entries in the list below are grouped into six geographical regions, four of which belong to the volcanoes of the Sunda Arc trench system. The remaining two groups are volcanoes of Halmahera, including it’s surrounding volcanic islands, and volcanoes of Sulawesi and Sangihe islands. The latter group is in one volcanic arc together with the Philippine volcanoes.

The most active volcanoes are Kelut and Merapi on Java island which have been responsible for thousand of deaths in the region. Since AD 1000, Kelut has erupted more than 30 times, of which the largest eruption was at scale 5 on the Volcanic Explosive Index (VEI), While Merapi has erupted more than 80 times. The International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth Interior has named Merapi as a Decade Volcano since 1995 because of its high volcanic activity.

The most Favorite Mountain Climbing in Indonesia are: Mout Bromo, Rinjani, Carsten Peak, Semeru, Krakatau, Kelimutu, Tambora, Kerinci, Agung, Batur, Papan Dayan, Kelud, Galunggung, Dieng Plateu, Gamalama, and Merapi.

The trip package are fully organized combination of adventure, leisure, ecotourism, and safety. We organized the trekking trip for individual and at small group maximum of 10 persons to maximize service and safety for all participants, also we provide you comfortable trekking gears for your convenience trekking trip.

Guide & Porters
We hire only professional mountain guide and porters from the nearest villages in the area of Rinjani National Park who has pass the guiding and handling test and hold a valid guide license. Adventure Lombok Tour Company is keen to develop the Eco Tourism Concept, giving as much as benefit to the local community to improve their standard of living.

About the Trek
You will encounter steep ascents and descents on a fairly good system of tracks whilst on the trek.. A good level of fitness is required. Please contact us if you would like some suggestions in relation to pre trip training or if you are concerned about your fitness level.

All meals will be prepared by your guide and porters on open fires and fuel stoves. Your porters will exhibit super human strength in getting all your camping gear up the mountain and is a constant source of amazement to trekkers! Expect traditional Indonesian style rice based meals. The meals are excellent relative to what you might expect on a typical western style commercial trek. The staff take great pride in their cooking skills and presentation of your meal. Any offers to help are welcome but not expected.

All your camping gear is supplied but if you want to take your own light weight sleeping bag or sleeping mat that’s fine. This can be arranged at your pre trip briefing in Senggigi Beach [our office]. Most trekkers will carry a small pack or day pack with personal items such as clothes, toiletries and photography gear. Keep the gear to a minimum and don’t take anything up the mountain that you don’t have to!

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Jakarta Airport, Indonesia – Carita Beach
Welcome to Jakarta! Today when you arrive at Jakarta Airport and after clearing customs and immigration, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in and overnight. Enjoy the balance of your day at leisure. You will be confirmed for the night at Carita beach hotel. Free at your own Leisure time.

Day 2: Carita Beach – Sertung Island – Krakatau
After breakfast you will be picked up at your hotel for the transfer to port for taking boat to Krakatau. Explorer the Anak krakatau in one day. your lunch will be serve at Sertung island or Rakata Island. Stay and overnight at Sertung island on tent. Dinner will provide here.

Days 3: Krakatau – Carita – Bandung
Cruising back to Carita beach after breakfast and taking morning picture of Krakatau volcano. Upon arrival at Carita you will be directly drive to Bandung. Lunch will be serve at local restaurant, stay overnight in Bandung.

Day 04 : Explore Mt Tangkuban Perahu – Kawah Putih – Garut
After Breakfast, we drive to Mt Tangkuban Perahu at North Bandung, then continue to visit Geology Museum at Bandung city and Visit also Kawah Putih at South Bandung, then transfer to Garut. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 05: Mount Papandayan – Batu Raden
In The Morning, explore Mount Papandayan, one of most active Volcano in West Java, after exploration continue visit Kamojang Geyser also in here you can see Geothermal Energy, then drive for 5 hours to Baturaden High land in foot of Mt Slamet, Overnight in Hotel

Note: if you like possible to Climt MT Slamet 3300m plus 2 days, last year this Volcano was eruption, now have still smoke at the top.

DAY 06 : Baturaden – Dieng Volcano Complex – Yogyakarta
Full day explore Dieng Volcano Complex 2700m, we will visit kawah sikidang, color lakes, Geothermal energy and also going to Dieng theater to see the Movie history of Dieng Plateau, then after this we drive to Yogya, overnight in hotel close from Mt Merapi.

Note: you can extra tour for Visit Borobudur Temple if you interesting by your own cost for permit, also for Prambanan Temple

DAY 07 : Yogya – Merapi Trekking – Tawang Mangu
In the dark 01.00 am, we leaving the hotel to drive 2 hours to Sello Village, 3 am in the morning starting trek to hike Mount Merapi, this will be take 4 hours hike, and around 7 am we arrival in Summit of Mount Merapi 2998m, in 2007-2007 when every days have lava Glowing, in summit now have new lava dome. After explore we going down take Breakfast at Pasar Bubrah, then come back to Selo Village, then drive to Tawang Mangu, also in this route we possible to Visit Prambanan Temple by your own Cost. Overnight at Hotel at Highland in foot of Mt Lawu.

DAY 08 : Tawang Mangu – Sarangan – Kediri
By car then drive to Kediri city will be take 5-6 hours and we will overnight in Bukit Daun Cottage and Resort.

DAY 09 : Kediri – Mount Kelud – Malang
After you take breakfast we will drive about 3-4 hours to Kediri City, we directly visit and explore Mount Kelud by Car. Mount Kelud is one active again, and have new child of kelud. then drive to Malang Overnight Hotel at Batu, highland mountain.

DAY 10 : Malang – Mount Welirang Trekking
After breakfast, we drive about 1-2 hours to Tretes Village for starting Trek to Mount Welirang 3100m.
Will be take 5-6 hrs hike through a lush temperate mountain forest to the second camp at about 2700 m elevation. Our camp will be set up near the village of the sulfur workers, who live here during their 5-days shifts. The village consists mostly of simple huts and is a perfect setting for interesting photography. For the workers, we will be a welcomes distraction and they are usually happy to show us around. During the trek, we only need to carry small day packs. Overnight in tents

DAY 11 : Mount Welirang – Cangar – Batu, Malang
In the Morning we start hiking to Summit area of Welirang volcano and its extensive fumarole’s fields Today, we have time to explore the summit craters of Welirang and its large fumaroles fields,- the sites where the sulfur is being quarried using primitive tools. Together with the miners, we walk up the mountain to its top dotted with craters and fumaroles (2-3 hours walk). The rest of day free to explore the fumaroles or the rest of the mountain, then we going down using different route via Cangar Village crossing tropical rain forest and then Drive to Batu Malang, overnight at same Hotel.

DAY 12 : Free program at your own leisure time..

DAY 13 : Malang – Ranu Pane – Ranukumbolo – Kali Mati Camp
In The Morning after simple breakfast about 06:00 am, we drive to Ranupane Village and then directly starting to trekking take 6-8 hours to Kalimati Camp before sun down. Sometime you will spot the big smoke erupted from Mt Semeru in every 20-30 minutes or so. Hopefully we will arrive in Ranu Kumbolo in afternoon, then having lunch and short break. Our journey continue to Kalimati (Dead River) with passing vast field of Savannah just about the feet of Mt Semeru. Here you will stay in a camp, having resting to prepare summit attack in the midnight. As the climbing will take tool of energy we suggest you to have a good sleep.

DAY 14: Semeru Summit – Ranukumbolo – Ranu Pane Village – Cemoro Lawang
In the dark you will start climbing on rough ground, steep hike about an hour to Arcapada. You have to be careful due the landslide common happen in these area, so make sure that you have a strong torch to light your path. The route to the summit quite straightforward, in the sandy loose ground will again test your stamina. Prepare to slide down when you try to go up. Having trekking poles will be valuable to help you balances with the movement. Most people reach the summit about 3 hours, but it depends on everybody’s ability to keep going. It’s been advised by National Park to decent the summit before mid day due the gas produces by continuing smokes of Mt Semeru. Reaching the summit (Mahameru) you will enjoy the view of the major part of East Java. You will stand in the highest mountain in Java. You have to see the small-scale eruption every 20 minutes full of smokes and stones. So enjoy your achievement today, you’ve deserved it but mind do not too close to the crater as the Mt Semeru is an active volcano. Then we descend from summit back to Kalimati (camp) to have breakfast and to rest for a long morning trek. After breakfast we will continue to Ranu Kumbolo and will back trekking to Ranu Pane village using different router via Mount Ayek-ayek the foot of Mount Semeru. We’ll Arrived in Ranu Pane and we Drive to Cemoro Lawang by Jeep crossing sand of sea, overnight at Hotel in Cemoro Lawang Village

DAY 15: Mount Pananjakan – Bromo Volcano – Mt Sawur
Early morning we will take you to see the spectacular sunrise from Mt Penanjakan with 4WD jeep. You will enjoy the magnificent view of Mt Semeru and Mt Bromo from the summit of Mt Penanjakan.Then we will drive you through vast of sandy area (lautan pasir = ocean of sands) across to go to summit of Mt Bromo. It is a concrete well mark steps to the edges of great crater. From here you can see the ocean beach and viewing the Hindu’s temple held by Tengger Tribe from Bromo. Then Come back to Hotel for breakfast, and after you shower then continues by jeep to Tumpang, then from here change for Normal Car we drive to Mt Sawur will be take 3 hours. Mount Sawur, Mount Sawur is to a place to see volcanoes and where is we can see lava flow call Lahar and also in the night sometimes we can see the Eruption from this Mount, Mount Sawur is also for Mount Semeru Monitoring center using seismograph for monitoring the Mount Semeru Eruption Activity also some volcano around this area, We will make a camp here and enjoy the mountain scenery overnight in tent

DAY 16: Mount Sawur – Blawan Village
for Drive by car will be take 5-6 hours to Blawan Village, where the village closer from Kawah Ijen, when we arrival in Blawan we will visit Waterfall and Hot Spring Water, overnight in Home stay. Blawan is highland in Ijen Plateau complex in here very popular with coffee plantation call Java Coffee

DAY 17: Ijen Crater Hiking – Surabaya – Lombok
Early in the morning, well before sunrise, we drive a short way to the start of the trail that leads up to the active beautiful crater of Kawah Ijen volcano (about 1-2 hr hiking) with its famous blue acid lake (which is the most acid in the world!) and the hot, partly liquid sulfur deposits. The fumaroles are so hot that sulfur comes out as green vapors. After plenty of observation time, we leave the Ijen Plateau then after clean and washing; we drive to Surabaya airport departure to Lombok. Upon arrival at Lombok airport our staff will welcoming you by bring a sign board with your name on it. greet and meeting service on the way to Senggigi. stay over night at Senggigi beach.

Day 18: Free at at your own leisure time.
Day 19: Hotel Pick up at 06 am – Trek Sembalun Lawang to camp Pelawangan II
Day 20: Summit Mount Rinjani and descend to Sembalun Lawang camp site – Crater Lake – Ascent to Senaru Crater Rim.
Day 21: Senaru Crater Rim – Batu Penyesalan – Bunut Ngengkang – Rinjani Trek Center – Driving you to Gili islands port for cruising to Gili Trawangan. stay over night at Gili islands.

Day 22 – 23: Explorer the Gili island as to day unscheduled program for you, free at your own leisure time.

Day 24: Gili island – Bali – Trip Conclude
We will take you back to Bali by fast boat take about 2 hours, upon arrival we will drive you to Bali airport or your destination in Bali. Trip conclude.
